Frequently Asked Questions

EMAIL AND LINKS
ANSWERS
  1. Can I create a download directly to the mp3 file?
My Website Talks automatically creates both .mp3 and .swf files for each audio you create. It's simply a matter of linking to the generated file. Go ahead and look at the generated page code, it will include an .swf reference, like this: http://YOURWEBISTE.COM/audio_file_name.swf You can create a hyperlink on your webpage directly to the MP3 file by changing the .swf extention for .mp3 , like this http://YOURWEBISTE.COM/audio_file_name.mp3 You can email this link, or you can create a hyperlink on your website directly to the mp3 file so users can download your mp3 audio.

  2. Can I embed Audio into an Email?
Due to the security limitations of most email clients, many file types (including audio or flash) may not be embedded directly into the email message. This is because the security features built into most email clients prevent script applications from executing on your PC, in an effort to protect you from malicious viruses. Due to the great influx of needed security involved with email/worms/ and attachments. Any attempt to attach or embed a player into an email will simply not be able to run (execute) on the recipients PC. The work around for this is to simply include a click able link in your email. The user clicks the link, and the audio plays. My Website Talks will automatically upload your files, and generate the link needed for you. You simply copy/paste the link into the email. If you REALLY want to auto play audio within the email client and you're familiar with your email program, and how to edit HTML templates, we've created a tutorial on a work around for this Here

  3. Can I make an Audio Post Card?
No we do not create audio post cards. We opted not to do that for this reason:

Why send someone to another html page to click on yet another link to hear the audio?

We simply create an audio eMail link, this way you send this link in your eMail, someone clicks it and the audio starts to play--much better in our opinion.

  4. How to Auto Stream Audio into an Email
This lesson is not so much a function of the software, it's more of an email trick you can use if you want to send an audio email and not require the recipient to have to click anything in order for it to play. The recipient will simply receive your email, and the audio will play. No clicking required! Click Here

  5. What code do I put in my email?
After you generate your audio files, you are presented with 2 options. One TAB says "Player Code", this is the HTML code for your webpage.

The other TAB says "eMail code", this is the tab you should select if you want to send an audio email.

Be sure your pasting the link from the "eMail code" TAB into your email message.

When you send an audio email, you are really only sending a hyperlink to the audio which sits on a server and is played by the users browser.

    Why do we do this?

You cannot embed audio into an email message because most email clients (your email program) will block "flash", or other components from playing in an email message. This is a security measure that prevents active content from running on your PC. Imagine the problems that could be caused by simply receiving an email. You could get a virus or worm by simply receiving an email!

This is why we cannot, and do not support embedding audio directly into the email itself.

  6. Why won't the eMail link work?
The upload process probably did not complete properly, 9 out of 10, this is due to incorrectly entering server settings in the FTP area. All the generated files must be uploaded in order for the eMail or Audio buttons to work.
